Scotmama:  How long have you been on concerta 54?  My son is on that dosage since August and he is still loosing weight.  Not that much, but still he is looking very thin these days.

Thanks.

Wow, I thought I'd lost a ridiculous amount of weight, but I see many people here are losing even more than me.

I'm 5'4",  was 128 lb and I'm now 111, so 17 pounds over 4 months. I'd hate to lose any more, it's costing too much to replace all my pants ;D

It seems to have just about stopped; I haven't lost any weight in the last few weeks.

im on 10mg 2 times a day so 20mg total

I'm not loosing a heck of alot of weight.  I guess alot of it is due to me having a total hysterectomy eight weeks ago.  I still have alot of swelling in my stomach area due to that.

My appetite has cut back alot and I don't crave sugar anymore.  All I want now is chicken anyway I can get it which is strange.

Maybe after another month on the meds I will begin to see a difference.

I'm on 18mg of concerta once per day.

I have been on Adderall XR for one month now and have lost 12 lbs....my dr just increased my meds from 20mg to 30mg...it would be nice to lose another 10lbs.

Hi all

I am a new diagnosee, but long time sufferer of ADHD and Bipolar.

I am on Concerta 36 not very long, since a couple weeks long acting supposedly 12 hour, however I find it only works for 8 hours for me.  Consistently around 4 pm every day I crash.  So I told my doc and now we 'top up' with 10-20 mg - (10 for now) of Ritalin to get through the eve - mostly for the necessity to bath and put my toddler to bed and end the day around 10.  The night routine for kiddie, I find v labor intensive.

Before this med, in retrospect now, I see I was developing a severe compulsive eating problem that was getting worse and worse.  I was eating us out of house and home. My husband (one of those 3 meals a day, no snacker type) would look at me in shock as I had to be eating SOMETHING every moment of God's hours.

Again since medicated, I can now slow down, take a step back and see what the triggers were.  There were two emotional reasons.  One was worry/uncertainty and second was boredom - a big relative of ADD people, right?, the boredom, tap my fingers, what-can-I-do-next feeling.  Well I was bound at home with my toddler now, when I used to be a kind of globe trotter-ish person, and now had no way to run around and intellectually stimulate myself like I used to.

I told my doc since I'm on the meds I don't have the sugar cravings I was having.  Not even the carb cravings.  Instead now I crave protein and vegetables.  I WANT to drink lots of water which is a new novelty!  Its like my brain has slowed down enough so that when I am hungry, or want something, I think, ok drink water FIRST then see if you are still hungry.  Water is now my crutch and hope that lasts.

I also talked with my docs nurse and we also think maybe I was on the sugar rush to fuel my fast brain.  I had to replenish every hour!  I was way to out of control.

I am thanking God for this break from the slave to eating.  The eating to self soothe and fuel was so unbalanced.

btw - I find the Ritalin curbs appetite more than Concerta for now anyway...

thanks for listening...

In the last 2 months i have lost around 10kg (22lb) which is about 16% of my original body weight.

I am losing around 1kg (2.2lb) each week, but at one stage i was losing nearly 2kg (4.4lb) a week! I am trying to eat more but it doesn't seem to be helping much, although if i eat junk food it slows it down to nothing.

In the first 3 months of me taking ADD meds (Strattera) I lost about 35 pounds. When I started my meds I was 206 pounds. I was a little on the heavy side so I used the appetite suppression side effect of the drug to loose weight and at the same time I changed my whole diet up so I would eat very healthy. The first 15 pounds or so burned away no problem and I felt great about myself. but from then on I started to feel sicker and sicker as I lost weight. I kept with it because I wanted to reach my goal. I upped my work out routine and realized that I was really getting some negative effects because of loosing so much weight. I started to get very dizzy after running long distances and (almost) blacked out multiple times. Once I reached my target weight it took my body about another month to catch up with me and stabilize it self. Now I feel really healthy and am really happy about myself. looking back on it I guess it sounds pretty scary but I had my doctor to back me up and tell me I was fine. ~~So if any of you guys have any other problems related to weight loss (dizziness, insomnia, feeling over medicated, or anything concerning) make sure you let your doctor know about it. remember, he is there to help!!![QUOTE=michel72]

Switched from Adderall XR to Concerta.  I'm taking 36mg a day.  In general I have been known to lose weight quick but then gain it back.  I tend to lose and gain 10lbs off and on.

ive been on adderal for 2 weeks , ive lost 11 pounds . meep. im 5 foot tall, i was 120, now im 109 and i still loose weight! How much of the adderall are you on?  I am on 10mgs XR.  Its not helping much I think in a couple of days I am going to increase it to 20mgs.

I've been on Focalin for about 2 months.

I haven't lost any weight, even though I could stand to lose 20 lbs.

I am slowed down enough to know when I'm hungry, though.  And I have had very few sugar cravings.

In fact, when I was taking the focalin every 4 hrs to figure out the dosage, I would sometimes get strong sugar cravings when the medication wore off.

It's so great to be aware of all of this instead of being in a fog all the time.

I have lost about 32 lbs. since late April when I was put on Adderall XR.  It seems to be tapering off during the last month.i am on concerta 54mg and the loss is starting to slow down now.5 lbs. in 10 days - I'm on Focalin.i lost 16 pounds since july

I've been on Add meds for about 2 weeks and I've already lost 5 pounds.

How much have you lost?

Over 3.5 months I have lost 10% of my body wieght.  I think it is most significant in the beginning of adjusting to medication, it kind of tapers off and balances out.  Just maximize the good foods you eat so your body gets what it needs.I have been taking straterra 25mg for 7 days and I have lost 3 pounds.  If I am not nauseous I can take 2 bites of food and be finished!  I begin 40mg tomorrow and am wondering if the appetite will further decrease.  I guess I will find out!
