Bowman,
Does your child go to public or private school? That is absolutely despicable and I would pull my child out of that school pronto
FANNIN COUNTEY,TX ALLOWS SPANKING. SPANKING DOESN'T TEACH PROBLEM SOLVEING/ACCONUTABILITY THOUGH. WE DO IT CAUSE TAKEING THINGS AWAY HAD NO EFFECT ON OUR KIDS AT ALL. THEY BOTH VALUE NOTHING. Wow, that is an eye-opener for me! I live in a state (IN) that doesn't ban corporal punishment, and I didn't even know it! I have never heard of children being paddled, at least not in my school district. We live in one of the higher-educated, affluent areas, so maybe that is why?I'd of paddled whoever did it over the head. I think that is crazy. Here in NJ you aren't even allowed to spank your child or they call Dyfus on you.[QUOTE=cr12345mr]Wow, that is an eye-opener for me! I know here in NC the metropolitan areas have banned it, but it is still allowed in the rural counties.
Some kids only respond to this. I don't thinks schools she be able to paddle the kids. Send a letter I did at the school here forbitting paddeling. My son did worse at age five at school. He is adhd but was not medicated until almost age 7. What the school did was wrong. Just who did the paddling - the teacher or principal? I noticed you are in the USA, and they are NOT allowed to hit a child in public schools, I think private as well. You need to contact the superintendant and the police, file a complaint, and discuss the serious changes your son has gone through since then - I think you could even sue the school district for abuse!
I would also consider changing schools immediately! I wouldn't trust any faculty member that they might do it again to your son or another child!
Do the other parents know what they did to their children?!
i must say if it had been me,you would have had to pull me off that teacher who paddled him.that would have been my first impulse.
after calming down,i would have gone to the principal office and raised hell.paddling a 5 year old is barbaric, doing it to an ADHD child is ignorant also.here in britain it is ILLEGAL for a teacher to physically discipline a child, they could be arrested and lose their jobs and not work ever again in schools.
don't punish your child for not wanting to go to school,he is only 5.wait a little bit and see if his fear goes away.
I WOULD GO TO THE POLICE AND COMPLAIN ABOUT ASSAULT,
Contact the state Dept of Education and ask them if it is legal first of all. If it isn't, file a complaint.
I really don't know what you can do, but punishing him for being afraid of the place won't help. He has a right to be scared. They hurt him there.
If it were my kid, I would pull him out and send him again next year. I would also do whatever I could to get him in another school when he does go.
I would be furious!
They still paddle kids in public schools here in the US???? I thought that was outlawed long ago.
Paddling an ADHD 5 yo in school is simply BARBARIC. Do not let them touch your child again. ADHD is a disability. One does not paddle an ADHD child because he is unable to control his impulsive behavior. It is like paddling someone with epilepsy for having a seizure! Or paddling someone with Tourette's for having a tic!
You should write a letter of complaint and send it to your teacher, principal, and school superintendent. If it were me, I'd get a lawyer. Then I'd pull my child out and either wait another year or send him to private school. Ugh! This makes me so mad!
Actually, corporal punishment IS legal in many more states than you would imagine (including my state of NC). I just recently signed a petition to knock it off the books, but it is still used in many rural counties in our state. I'd find out who, if anyone, is heading up the charge to make it illegal (and complain to the principal, etc.).
Corporal punishment is legal here in Tx too. My sons elementary doesn't spank because the principle does not believe in spanking. My daughters intermediate school spanks, but they send home a permission form at the beginning of the year. So pretty much they let the parents decide. I honestly cannot believe that you did not get a call about this before the spanking. I think that you probably know what to do by now.Last month on Sept. 22, my 5 year old son was paddled while at school. Just for blowing corn threw a straw with two other students. All three students were paddled. My son has ADHD and now he is scared to go to school and his behavior has gotten worst. How can I help clam him down without hitting. I put him in his room , no outside time , time outs , what else is there for me to do. I do not agree on Corporal punishment for any child to go threw . I do think his behavior changed more when he had been paddled at school. He is only five and just started school this year . If anyone thinks corporal punishment should be banned from school please let me know. Thanks
