OMG...could it be...already? | ADHD Information

They are currently playing nicely, he and his sister. He is so CALM! Behaving so great, I havent had to come down on him for ANYTHING for over an hour! Its AMAZING!!!! He is still acting like himself, just CALM! Please excuse my excitement, but this is SOOO abnormal lol. I love it! Why do meds not make one bit of difference for my son? Even when he has taken his medication he is no calmer or better beahved than when he doesnt frankly he is wild! He does not sleep but still has an amazing appetite ! help ! Cameronsmummy, maybe you need to either up the dosage or try another med.  Everyone seems to have a different reaction to meds.  It takes quite a while to find the right med combo sometimes.  If you can't find any med to work, then you consider whether the dx is correct.He has been on his very first ever dose of meds for appx 40 min now....and he is seeming CALMER than usual. Could it be working already? Im afraid to say much more...afraid ill jinx it lol. Its abnormaly QUIET around here this morning, and its GREAT!Yes, we can notice when Nate gets his meds..... We felt that way to, but he had issues when the meds were leaving his system... the so called rebound...Doesn't it feel good when you have a win?  We've done a lot of tweaking to get meds right for ds, but it's working!  As he grew, we had to shift and change and increase.  Congrats!

Yes, you should see results today.  He may need to get used to it for a few days.  Hopefully your afternoon will be OK.  My dd had the rebound effect in the afternoons, and it wasn't much fun.  We ultimately had to give her short-acting ritalin in the afternoons. 

And good luck on the appetite and sleeping.  We use melatonin to help with the sleep issue.  The appetite thing we still struggle with, although with extra effort on my part, I got her to gain 3 lb over the summer!
