Madonna adopt? | ADHD Information

Did you see this?  How many developmental problems do you think this child will have after spending his first year of life in a run-down orphanage?  How much attention do you think this child will need.  How much attention will Madonna have time for?  From one dysfunctional life to another...

As the mom to two internationally adopted children - who I must say are the absolute loves of my life - I can only hope that anyone who adopts a child does it for the right reasons, and not for publicity, to promote a cause, or because it is the "in" thing to do.

I also feel that everyone should have to follow the same rules when it comes to adoption - and that celebrities should not be allowed to skirt any requirements that everyone else has to meet just because of their celebrity status.

That said, I don't have any specific feelings about Madonna adopting, only that I hope that she is doing it because she really wants to love and raise this child and give him the forever family that every child deserves.
I totally agree with you! But I do think that Madonna can get publicity in other ways? But they should meet the same rules as everyone else!

dmid is right and I agree.  I do hope it is for the right reason too.  It just seems to me since she has had children her focus has turned to them.  Writing children books is one example.

She was very protective of Lordes when she was born keeping her away from the cameras.

I believe she will give this child an endless amount of chances to grow and develop into a happy healthy child.

She didn't exactly  grow up rich with privledges.  Her mom died when she was young and lived in (or near Detroit).

Gosh I think Madona is doing a wonderful thing.  I know she has an ugly past but allot of that is an image she created to make money-actually she is a great business woman.  It apears she really loves her children too.

Don't you think she has grown up quite a bit?

Just my opinion

I agree with Olie, shes doing a good thing! And think of the resources and the help she can get for the child! And Madonna have had my outmost respect since "like a cirgin"! She knew exactly what she was doing! Genius!

As I understand it, she was there to assist in raising funds for an orphanage, so she was already doing an altruistic thing and felt moved to do more.

The thing I think is odd is that this child's father is still alive. How odd to decide to adopt a child with a living parent when you are assisting in the building of an orphanage. That's probably why she could take the child out of the country so quickly: the boy's father gave his consent. Hmmmm....I hope that adopting  children doesn't become the new "thing", like Kabbala or carrying around small dogs or whatever other fad the stars are into now.

From what I got from the story, she was there on a 9-day visit and decided to adopt while she was there!  If that's true, it's sort of like instant gratification adoption.

Having been through two adoptions - I do not believe that the US would allow that to happen, even if the other country would.

The INS has to issue their approval for the adoption prior to bringing the child into the US.  You have to have a homestudy with a social worker, complete endless amount of forms, get fingerprinted, etc.  I can't imagine that the US would waive those rules for anyone - even Madonna!!

However, I suppose the she could have gone there for a visit and decided to adopt a child on a whim, and now will have to do all the legwork in order for it to move forward.

Fortunately for her, the fees and costs will not be as daunting as they are for us normal folk!

I've heard that the adoption was not true then it was true and wasn't and on and on. Could very well be hype.I think the media may be creating most of the hype.  How do we know what we hear is true?
I agree. I think she is doing a wonderful thing. I agree she was a brilliant business women regardless of her trashy approach. I think she has grown up a lot and even said she had to think of her children now (meaning clean up her act) So I think it is good.
