Does anyone know anyone who has a child with Aspergers?

I do not know much about it. Im learning through the net and books. I dont know what to expect from my child once his adhd is under control.........we dont know how a Aspergers child would act, if you take away the ADHD.

Anyone?

I have learned about Aspergers over the net, and spent lots of time on it. My son is sooooooooooooo much better with the meds for ADHD, and the Aspergers is manageable, where the other things that went with his adhd were not. I think his ADHD is, was the worser of the two evils.

thanks for your input

Hi,
Asperger's kids can have a lot of ADHD symptoms - but even if the inattention and hyperactivity is taken care of, there are still core symptoms of Aspergers.
There is no way to predict what it will be like until you see it.
The core features of asperger's are:
social skills deficits - i.e. cannot create social relationships the way that other kids can at a similar agebehavioral issues- i.e. routines can be very important, and other symptoms which can almost be considered 'obsessive'.It is really worth learning a lot about Asperger's. Just wait and see how your child responds to medicine. You will know it is working if there is improvement!

Good luck,
Kenny
WHY WOULD A ASD PERSON BE MEDICATED ANYHOW?THEIR MAIN ISSUE IS THE ASD.

ASD? WHATS THAT?

My son has a dx of ADHD and aspergers. He takes ritalin that does calm him very much so, but when he is calm, you can see the differences he has from others. That is where we got the other dx. The symptoms of Adhd may be from the aspergers, but the ritalin helps it. As for focus, thats another story. He is in main stream kindergarten with special ed twice a day, speech and OT twice a week. The Six Characteristics of Asperger's Syndromemy daughter has mild aspergers w/add tendencies.....i have lots of info. on that subject, pm me & i'll send you some....
