yeah see, he was attacking his sister and so I took him to see the doctor , he perscribed the clonodine, and it seemed to go away, so I'm going to assume that maybe the med isn't strong enough?!?Stacey, I hate to say it but at this point your son might really need a change of schools to get a fresh start. The other kids have already mentally marked his behavior and are probably behaving toward him in a way that leaves little room for him to change. They are expecting a certain behavior from him and are talking and acting toward him in a way that probably triggers that behavior. Not that it's a conscious thing on his or their part, just a nasty cycle, and depending on your son's temperment, he may not be able to mitigate their expectations of him by good behavior alone. Sorry , yes he got evaluated, his doctor is registered as well as a dr. who looks after add kids. like I said though I can't wait to see him on the first, and I can't wait to find out if the teacher is right or wrong would this behavior be add related or not?ADHD children have problems with impulsivity. Something crosses their mind, they do it without thinking. Such as punching someone or calling names. Your son's behavior sounds consistent with ADHD, but of course he needs a medical eval. Lots of other things mimic ADHD.What kind of a doctor did you take your son to? Did he ever see a child psychiatrist, and get an eval? I think it would be good to get that done. Ok so I'm new, my name is Stacey, I have an 8 year old son who has add. Last year I was told this and I took him to the dr. and he was put on meds on so on. This year in grade 3 has been nothing but hell. He goes to see his dr. on the 1st, but so far he's been suspended from school for punching a little girl in the face. Last friday his teacher called me freaking out all over my head, I asked her if she could please write a letter to his dr. telling him whats been going on and she flips out again saying she doesn't think this is add related, he called a kid a "dick". and an "idiot" and told another one "you suck" I am seriously at my wits end I don't know what to think, the teacher said its behavior related but I know I'm a good mom, my other kids go to school and their fine, so whats going on with my boy??? I'm really getting worried I've talked to him and he swears he'll do better but nothings changed and I'm scared that they will kick him out or worse send some crazy social worker to my house and they'll take him away. Please help any advice would be much apprecaited.
