Let the doctor know. Is this happening when he is coming off the meds? If so, it may be rebound (acting worse as the meds leave the system then he acted before starting meds). If it is rebound, it may get better as he gets use to the med. My concern would also be how he acts before the second dose (is he having ups and downs that might be better addressed with a longer acting med that has a smoother delivery). Good luck and hang in there.
Just a thought- is it possible that there is an underlying tourettes?
joshsmom, it could be that he just needs to get used to how it feels when the meds wear off. If he is not doing this in school then chances are it is a form of rebound..this is just an idea but you may want to try some classical music in the background to help calm him down. My son is 7 and takes the extended release and the rebound has been minimal he does not get mean or nasty but rather jumpy/bouncy. Also I give my son a little magnesium on the nights that he has an activity because I don't want to give anymore stimulant meds....this actually seems to work. Last night at cub scouts (pack meeting) he was better behaved that most of the kids. joemom39015.4674074074i have no idea, but he did'nt do it on concerta it just seems bad on this trial of addreall. If this is a new behavior since meds, you definitely need to let your doctor know. Maybe it is a tic.joshsmom, I too had a son on Adderall. He is only 4 just diagnosed. The doctor put him on 5mg of Adderall, for the first 3 hours it was a mess in the house he would try to put toys like lincoln logs or something of that sort and he would knock it down and get really aggrevated with it. When I sat on the floor with him he would sit on my lap and hold me tight and tell me "Momma I'm going to fast I can't slow down". When we told the sp doctor he never heard of it, but when I spoke to the pharmisist he said it was an adverse reaction to the drug. We also tried him on ritiln, and strattera both did not do anything but make him worse. Now his doctor put him on 0.1mg cut in half of Clonidine and 0.5mg cut in half of Risidal every night before bed and I'll tell you it made a world of difference. Your son might be allergic to the ingredient in the stimulants, talk to your doctor about the other options.I haven't done meds at this point, but I can't imagine how hard it is to watch your child go through so many changes on them! It just makes me sad to think about having to choose what to do next. I really feel for you and hope the best for you and your little guy! I hope things turn around soon...
