remember when!! | ADHD Information

We just spent 2 hours having Chase do his homework....yep, that's right, I forgot to get him on it on Friday...I was too excited about his good grade card...serves me right I guess.

He had ONE take home quiz on his reading, with about 6 questions that required he write answers with complete sentences.  He stared at it, whined that he was stuck, and basically complained that he did not know the answers even though he had read the chapters that the quiz pertains to.  I asked him if he had brought home the book to refer back to, he said no. ( I didn't check the bookbag myself)

So, after he did what he could by guess and memory, he left 2 questions blank and I told him that unless he had time before class to look up the answers and complete those he would have to take the consequences.

Then he goes to put it back in his folder in his backpack, and THERE IS THE BOOK!!!  So he rereads the chapter and answers the 2 questions, and corrects at least one that he guessed on.  WHEW!!!

Then my husband and I were sitting in the living room and I told him that the only thing that was good about today is that it reaffirmed the inescapable fact that the meds help Chase.  Every night used to be like this..now it is only when I forget to have him do his weekend homework on Fridays that we have this struggle.  My husband said he was just sitting there thinking "Wow, does this sound familiar or what?"

So, mental note to me....DON'T forget to get Chase to do homework on FRIDAYS!!  (We have chosen not to medicate on the weekends due to appetite issues)
