Talk to the doctor about this. It may take longer for him to get used tot he meds, or it may be an incorrect med or dose. The hyperactivity is only one of the symptoms that the meds are supposed to help with. It happens to be the most visible and easy to assess symptom. Find out from the teacher if your son needs redirrection in class (and how much). This may help you know how the meds are affecting attention.
My daughter used to fail every spelling test (she would miss 20 out of 25) prior to meds. Now that she is on concerta, she gets As and Bs (lowest score so far is an 88%). She is still struggling with reading comprehension when studying for science tests. I read a small study of meds increasing reading comprehension and am taking a copy of it into the doctor when we go in this week to see what he says. It may be that my daughter's dose is not quite enough.

vickie39022.4020717593My son has a lot of trouble with his short-term memory. He can study for a test one day and it goes well, but then the next day all of the info is gone from his memory. He started trumpet lessons, then suddenly after 6 months he forgot everything and had to start all over. He has good days and bad days and I never know what kind of day it will be. Now we just started Adderall XR. Day one seemed okay, day two was pretty good, but day three was terrible. He couldn't study for anything. Then I was talking to another parent whose son is taking Concerta, and she said her son is exactly the same and that the meds don't do anything for their memory, they only help them to sit in class and listen a little better, but that's it. Is this true?
