My son just went today for a speech eval and he also saw i therapist just to evaluated his social skills and his behavioral skills and he told me that my son was showing early signs of adhd and i kept thinking to myself that he is only 2yrs old about to be three and i cant believe that they can see these signs that early in life. i was just wondering if anyone can help me try to cope with this as a parent. without drugs, obvisly(sorry about the spelling) cause he cant take any of the drugs right now we have to wait until he is 6 yrs old or older....please help me

Our son was diagnosed at age three and, though at the time it was very sad and devestating, it really helped me to better understand him.  I was able to research why he acted the way he did and figure out a better way to parent him.  I am actually thankful that we knew so soon!

We do not use medication (and hope to not ever have to) but we do use supplements and diet modifications with much success.  You might check out more info on this on the Alternative and Compliementary Meds section of this board.  Welcome!

Early diagnosis may be hard to handle now, but from my perspective, my son is 8 and we've been through years of REALLY struggling to understand him. I think early diagnosis would have saved us and him much heartache.
