IEP is coming up. | ADHD Information

My DFS IEP is coming up next weekend. I was wondering if anyone in MN knows: to I have the right to have them rearrange his schedule in school?  Today I receive a call from his special ed teacher.  She is concerned DFS is not doing well in the afternoons with his studies needs a lot of hand over hand assistance.  But I think some of this is her problem expecting him to react RIGHT NOW when she asks him to do or decide something.  Just last week I was asking him something after school in front of her and she butts in "DFS answer Jill."  It wasn't until I got home and thought about it I was what the heck butt your nose out and stop pushing him. I mean after something goes in his ears jumps around his adhd mind, filters through his DD mind, goes in to just a boy and never listens mind it might settle in the needs to make a decision mind. This could take up to at least a full 2 -3 minutes to works its way around to all the stops.  I know he has Phy Ed in the morning. My thoughts are umm switch them if he is focusing in the morning get on the school work then and do the physical activities in the afternoon.  Also his meds are TiD, I give them at 7ish am, 3 ish pm ( after school) and bedtime 8ish pm.  Should I break down and have the afternoon meds given at school. I just hate from him have to go to the office each day for them.

If there are classes in the morning as well as afternoon, you can certainly ask to have him switched.

You can have it put in his IEP that he be given a certain length of time to respond to a question before they assume he is just refusing. Write down everything you want to see addressed in the IEP and what you would like to see done to address it and what you expect it to do for him. Take it with you so you can be sure you aren't so distracted that you miss something vital or can't express yourself clearly.

He's lucky to have you for a foster mom. You understand that he can try all he wants to but is limited as to what he can do at any given time.
