What type of doctor should be prescribing/managing my son's meds? He is 7 1/2 with ADHD. Pediatrician is not comfortable with anything outside of one type of low dose pill and I think my son needs a combination based on what we've tried thus far.
Thanks!!

I definitely concur - a pediatric psychiatrist WITH a good background in jeuvenile ADHD is the one who should call the shots. Once you've had a proper diagnosis and find the right dosage you can get it refilled from any MD though. Just be sure to follow the recommended steps - get a blood workup to rule out other illnesses that mimic ADHD, have your child checked for heart irregularities or defects that may not be easily seen, watch for any adverse effects that should be listed on the insert with the medication, and go back monthly or more to check on heart, weight and any unknown complications that can occur.
