Anyone’s child on Concerta w/another med? | ADHD Information

Does anyone have a child w/ADHD who is currently taking Concerta and another med?  Concerta is working o.k. but something is missing.  Thanks.Thank you very much - I will ask about this next week during our next doc visit.  And can I ask, what type of doctor manages/prescribes your meds?  My son's pediatrician will not be comfortable doing anything like combining meds so I'm thinking we need to see a pshychiatrist.  Thanks!My daughter is on 27mg Concerta in the morning and 1mg guanfacine (Tenex) 3x a day. This is currently an off-label use of guanfacine, which is a blood pressure med. The guanfacine was given because the concerta dose was not quite high enough and my daughter was losing weight she could not afford to lose (she is 10yo and 58lbs). So instead of increasing the concerta, the doctor added the guanfacine (which is supposed to help with weight issues, sleep issues, calming, hyperactivity, impulsiveness, defiance, but not attention). Shire has recently submitted clinical trial data for a long acting form of Tenex alone for ADHD (indicating that the data probably supports this use) and are starting one for ADHD + ODD.
