Concerta | ADHD Information

My son started out on Concerta 18mg. After a week, we bumped it up to
36mg. It has been wonderful! We still have our rough days. I sorta
compare it to a PMS type day about once a week. But, it's still much better
than where we were before medication. Like one of the previous posters
said, the appetite suppression can be a problem. Don't panic over it too
much if you notice it. It is a normal side effect. My son has lost about 6 lbs
since he started it a few months ago. I try to let him eat when he asks for a
snack. And, I try to feed him a good breakfast also.

Congrats on the success you're seeing! Good luck!My son is on Concerta too, 18 mgs daily. The first day was AMAZING! The calm in teh house was WONDERFUL! I too can now take my son to the store and not DREAD it lol. Wonderul isnt it? And yes, do watch the weight. Mac lost 5 lbs in just under 3 weeks at his last Dr visit. I havent posted much but I read alot and as of yesterday my youngest girl started on Concerta, I worked and didnt get a chance to see the results yesterday but today I was home and HOWLY COW...   My child WALKS... well she still bounces a little with a little twirl and skip but shes not that super bounce ball that runs screaming through the house or jumping up and down and all the stuff that goes with that.   Even her brother and sister pointed out , wow mom shes walking, shes not screaming.  The fight ratio in my house is high with 3 kids or at least I thought it was until today, hardly any.  I had to keep getting up to check on her instead of knowing instantly because of the commotions she normally causes.  I guess I am in shock and I am so excited and relieved and amazed.

i am taking concerta and found it great for me.i am happy for you it also works.

keep an eye on her appetite and loss of weight,it is the most common problem with this med.but don't worry appetite comes back little by little.

Great news. I am glad it worked for her.Amazing isnt it? When my daughter first started concerta, I was able to take her to the store and she was helpful. Prior to that, I had quit taking her because she fussed, ran around touching everything and I could not pay attention to the shopping.
