Strattera anyone??? | ADHD Information

In the beginning his stomach hurt a little and he was tired alot.  But now it looks better.  He still gets tired, but not so much that it interrupts his day to day routine.

THe 2nd dose in the afternoon was decided on when we upped from 10 to 20 mg and when the morning dose started to fall short in shcool, so I asked to split it.

GOod luck with your son ---------- and it is great to know that we are not alone.  If it has to be - it is nice that there is someone we can talk to that understands.

Lets cross our fingers for our kids and the strattera!!!

DIDN'T LIKE THE SIDE EFFECTS. ONLY WORKS ON NEROPHENEPHRINE. WON'T HELP DANIEL  THIS TRANSMITTER LEVEL IS THE ONLY ONE INBALANCE. THIS IS WHY WE WENT FOR THE NEURO SCIENCE TESTING. HIS ISSUES IS THIS YOU HAVE 2 RANGES OF TRANSMITTERS DAY AND NIGHT LEVELS HIS ARE WORKEING BACKWARD FROM EACH OTHER. VITAMINS HAVE HELPED HIM WELL.

WE ALSO BELIEVE TEACHING WHAT BUILDING LOCKS ARE MISSING HELPS ALSO. OUR SE DIRECTER FEELS THE SAME WAY AS WE DO. Strattera was the first med we tried.  Kept upping the dose for 6 months, finally had to add in a stimulant.  Ultimately, we discontinued Strattera because we saw no benefit.  All children are different though, so give it a try!  It may work for you!Watch out for nightmares with strattera.... that's what i had..... bad ones. My son is on Stattera, he takes it in the morning, he started on 10mg for two weeks then up to 18mg for three, we started 26 today... He did not do well on the stimulents... We are having pretty good success with it.. although this week has been bad, but then we were suppose to up the dose this week. and he sure needs it.. he is 7 in first grade and just moved into specail Ed, part of the day.. he needs one on one for a while, this should only be for a few years..

HI My son has been on Rialin LA10, then 15 then 20, Adderall, Concerta..

Now we are trying Strattera?? I feelig like I am bombarding him with all these meds..   Anyone has spectacular luck with it??? I know they say about the "medication rollercoaster", but I have been healing with this for 13 months now...

When am I going to find the right one. Even now on the LA 20, still moody, not focusing... He is in a special ed class just for attention, behavior is not a problem(in school at home is another story),but if I can get him to focus, he probally be fully mainstreamed...

HELP!!!!

My Son was just put on strattera a little over a month ago.  He previously was on Concerta and then focalin --------both of which did not work for him only made him worse!!!

This strattera started to work immediately for him ---------and I have his teacher, counselor and principal as witnesses to this.  They noticed the change too.  He was having a lot of behavior problems at school ---always being sent to the principal.  He would not make the right choices in situations with other kids at school, instead he hit, kicked, pushed, etc when he had a problem with someone.  Now he makes the right choice, he tells the teacher or the aide.

They also see much improvement in the class, such as handwriting, focus and sitting still.  He was always smart in school and did well.  But now his behvior and impulsitivity have changed.

So ---- so far I am happy with strattera. My son is 6 and in first grade.  He is only one 20 mg a day (10 in the am and 10 in the afternoon) ----------this seems to be working good.  I am sure we will have to increase some later?????

Good luck with your child on strattera, I hope you find the same results!!!

I keep thinking this is too good to be true, but I am happy it is working!!! I have been trying to deal with his behavior over 2 years.

Also my 10 year old daughter also has adhd and is on concerta --- which works for her.  My husband was also diagnosed as a child with adhd.

SO stress is not new to me.  But I can not take anymore so i pray that the strattera keeps on working!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks momw3kids...

Did you son have any side effects from the Strattera? We are starting him out on 1/2 dose in the am, and 1/2 after school as well. Why is that? Because it is not long acting??  My son is also 6 and in the 1st grade... Gals to hear I'm not alone.

Hoping that this is the right med!!!
