Skibber...Question.  How old is your son and what are his rebound symptoms.  My 11 year old son just started adderall as well.  He started 5mg in am and 5mg at 3:30pm.  We moved to 10 mg in AM and 10 mg at 3:30 and still see some rebound around 1:00pm, but not as bad.  What are his rebound symptoms?

The increased dose doesnt casue the medication to stay in the system longer. The duration of effectiveness is based on the childs metobolic rate of absorption.

Skibber......while you might see rebound again, if the medication is a effective dose meaning it is working at maximum benefit and your not seeing unacceptable side effects, the rebound can be remedied with a dose of a shorter acting stimulant. There is no way of knowing until the dose is raised but I also ask....what are the symptoms you are seeing?

My son is 10 years old.  He was on concerta 54 with 10mg ritalin in the mroning..  Concerta took about 2 hours to kick in a he was not having max. benfit for his math class. This really helped.  Began to see it was not Dr. was not willing to increase and said to try adderal.  Started at 5mg.  About 4 o'clock or so he was just incredibly impulsive.  More so than just normal. I noticed yesterday not as bad as day before.  Maybe it is just getting used to med.  I will probably give it another day or 2 before calling dr.My son just started adderall.  He is having some real rebound problems. If we increase to 10 which is likely to happen this week will rebound get worse.

Sometimes the higher dose reduces rebound because it stays around longer.....I think....anyone???

Some people also add a amall fast acting dose just before rebound usually happens to ward it off... ask your doctor about that
