My 8 year old daughter has just been diagnosed..She has the emotional part as well as being bored, not able to sit still, no common sense, as if she is in a world of her own and constantly fighting with peers.
Does anyone else experience this?? She is on Zoloft, 25mg but now we need to adress the other issues , such as comprehension and common sense part.The doctor gave me a prescription for Adderall. What does anyone think about this drug, teir experiences and can it be ok to mix these two. The doctor says yes, but it seems odd to mix a "downer" with a stimulant. Any and all advice needed.

that sounds like me. as a child ( and even now sometimes) i couldn't read a page of a book and tell you what it's about. i get to the end of the page, and i'm like... yeah... that was nice.... what was it about?
i was on zoloft for PPD (post pardum depression), but i zipped past 25mg quite quickly. i was up to 200mg a day and it still wasn't helping.
my baby brother is 10, on concerta and succeeding on it. i believe it is also a stimulant. I've also heard ppl around here talk about tenax (spelling?), which i believe will help her calm down and focus.
personally, if i were you, i'd see what one medication will do before adding too many. if she starts having side effects you won't know which one it is. also, she may do fine on just the one... no point in taking two!
