Dexedrine?? | ADHD Information

Hi everyone,

My 7yo dd who was diagnosed with ADHD 2 weeks ago went to the pedi psychiatrist today who prescribed her to take 10mg Dexedrine daily.  This is the first med we are trying.  Has anyone else used this?  What is your input on how this med has worked for your child?  Any info will be truly appreciated.

Yeah, you don't hear much about dexidrine. My daughter is on it. She is ADD. She has tried other meds that have left her with severe mood swings and feelings of helplessness. This med has done wonders for her. It does cause insomnia though. She takes blood pressure pills at the end of the day to help her sleep.my son was on it for 2 years.  He was taken off of it because he started to develop the tics (lip licking).  It was the best med for him it stayed in him system for 10 hours. He is now taking focalin xr and i hate the med.  Only last for about 5 hours.  I am gonna reqest that my son be put back on the dexedrine.  It is a wonder meds for children that really cant seem to tolerate the other meds.
