Are they any single parents out there who is single and has a child suffering from the disorder or you yourself?

Do you feel that you or your situation will not be understood so you feel you should be single anyway to avoid fustration, embarrasement?  Not saying I am not proud of my child or myself..but I just feel that others will not understand due to all the "opinions" on the disorder.

Lets discuss........

I agree Mum:

I am dx but not on meds as of yet, I figured if I go this long with out it, then hey.  However, being that my family is from the islands, they just look at him and seh, "deh pickney damn rude" when he really can't help it, or they think that they are "too too"

Which makes me feel that a possible partner will not understand the ways my child acts, unless they are a psychologist or have a child them selves with this disorder.

im a single mum of 2 boys one has adhd and one as asbergers and im just in the process of being diagnosed myself

i find it really hard just to get to school in the morning and think partners of adhd people have to be very understandin which my wasnt and only made matters worse we get by better on our own  in our own weird way anyway how can we even think of starting new relationship wen no 1 will look after your kids and they dont sleep until 1:30 am amen lol

Being single is good for me - I am very adhd and process stuff in a different way.  Relationships are complicated enough if you have a normal brain I think.  I am not embarrased by adhd - maybe about some of my impulsive moves?

I have great kids and think it is just the easier road to stay single, a relationship would be too much commitment and time while raising kids.  I just stick with good friends and leave it at that, at least I can go home alone when I get into my adhd moments or in a funk.  I have a daughter that is suspected to have an LD and possible add?  She is a good kid though.  My other daughter is just plain hyper but I don't think she has any adhd - just a fun loving kid.  Being a single parent is a challenge in itself, but it makes the sweet moments soooo much better for me.
