If we can get through all the negative things associated with ADD/HD on which the general public focuses, these children do have wonderful attributes, characteristics and gifts for the world. I think that in childhood, adolescence and early adulthood, we have to deal so much with SCHOOL that we are often seen as the "outcasts". These children do not fit the traditional student mold.
In my own expereince with my daughter, I have had to come to grips with that and REALLY focus on my daughter's wonderful qualities. It has been a long road and is still frustrating some days, but I have finally come to terms with her ADD. I just wish that more educators celebrated these children's good, often unique, abilitites.
zjmom:It's a new day

That is the way I felt as soon as I started researching ADHD. I am actually GLAD my son is the way he is (he's not boring, that's for sure) and I have a feeling he is going to be somthing wonderful one day. And your right southernbell, they could have something much worse. We are all blessed, whether we know it or not! This is so true! I also have son who originally diagnosed with ADHD in
August but now off medication per doctor since it did not do anything
and I suspect he may be Aspergers(he is obsessed with cars). I
have always felt that he was so different, he thinks in a different
way and God made him this way for a reason. We often forget
that children should not always fit certain categories or molds
and I am trying to embrace his uniqueness.
That is true!! They could have something much worse. Some days I think I can't handle the situations with my son. But to tell you the truth, one of my nephews was born with a terrible eyesight problem, he had a reduced eyesight since he was born, and he has been losing his sight more and more over the years, he is just a 9 yr old kid, and currently almost blind. When I think I am going to get crazy with my son, I think of this kid and his parents, then I say that I am really blessed and my son's adhd is really nothing.
This could help us think!
Hope this brightens someone's day because I believe these words fit all of us parents wanting the best for our children. Now this is what I call encouraging! Thanks!
Your friend is so right! I have spent so much time in prayer for my son and I know it's had an effect. I've seen how his ADD has made him struggle and how the struggle has made him the amazing person he is. Don't anyone ever give up on any of these kids. They all are truly gifts from God.
Love it!That is so uplifting! Thank you!AMEN!!! I know we all struggle with our ADHD kids and it can be very stressful, but if ADHD is the only thing with have to deal with our kids, we are very lucky!! I often try to remember that there are other children out there that have alot more problems to deal with.
Thanks for the pickup!!!
