I know that there is another thread on Focalin XR, but wanted to start a new one with a specific question -
We started my son on 5mg almost a month ago. First week and a half were pretty rough, but then a little better. Upped his dosage to 7.5 mg after two weeks - had seen some improvement at school, but not quite enough. He then had two days that were the best ever - raving reports from school and daycare, then he seemed to go a little downhill the next three days - back to impulsive behaviors, and not sitting still as easily. The weekend was pretty rough too, but then we had a lot going on, out of town seeing grandparents, late nights, etc.
I am trying 10 mg today - is it normal for an increased dosage to help for a few days but then not as much until you get to the right dosage?? We see the psych on Thursday, so I will ask her then too. BTW - she thought originally that he would probably end up at 10 mg based on his age/size.
My daughter was that way when starting concerta. Good results for a few days then she seemed to slip until the dose was increased. She leveled out at the current dose.Thanks Vickie...glad to hear that it eventually will remain consistent at the right dose...hopefully anyway!!
