Looking for an ADD psychologist in CT | ADHD Information

Share
Hey gang,

I'm in need of an ADD-understanding psychologist in lower Connecticut, around the Cheshire/Wallingford area if possible. I've been treated for ADD in the past, so I don't need a diagnosis or anything - just the therapy side of things.

Now all of the gory details:

I'm not looking for a psychiatrist right now, as I want to make sure I'm not going to be prescribed any drugs just yet. I'm not one of those anti-medication wackos I'm seeing all over the boards, however. You see, I've just finished a two year battle with cancer and have developed an aversion to medications of any kind. I need to talk to the psychologist to get that sorted out, then I can start seeing a psychiatrist and get good and medicated :)

So far, I've had no luck with all of the typical online resources - CHADD, ADDA, etc. I've searched my insurance co's site (Anthem BCBS) and they don't give any specifics about the practices. The only person I've been able to find semi-close is Dr. Thomas Brown. Naturally, he's not on my insurance list. The interesting thing is, even though my wife works for the Yale School of Medicine, we can't seem to figure out what this "Yale Clinic for Attention and Related Disorders" is that he's associate director of or how to get involved with it. Go figure. We've sent him an email with no reply just yet.

I don't have a PCP yet, as I've just moved down to Wallingford and haven't needed one - most of my recent problems have been handled by my oncologist. I've been seeing one psychologist for a few appointments and while she's nice, she admitted in the very first session that she knew next to nothing about ADD and the inherent problems of it. The more we discuss and the more I read back through my ADD books, the more I realize I need someone who knows ADD well to deal with me.

So there you have it: Long-Time ADD'er ISO ADD-Knowledgeable Psychologist for Long-Term Drug-Free Relationship. Occasional handholding a must, walks on the beach optional.  :)

Thanks!
