Of course you need to discuss with the doctor any issues with meds. I would start the meds during the weekend (when you can watch him) using the weekday schedule to see how your son responds to the meds and to the period when they are wearing off. Then you will have a better idea what the response your son has and if there are any side effects. You will also be in better shape to discuss tayloring the med schedule to your son's needs. vickie39028.6773032407Hi! I'm new to the boards but not the issue. We just got a script for our son for Ritalin 2.5mg. I have questions about timing. My dr said it lasted about 3 hours and to give 2x a day. My son goes to school in the afternoon, and isn't having many problems there. So I'd like him to have it in the am for speech therapy, etc. and after school for his impulsive aggressiveness towards all living things in our home. Dr said fine. However, what about days when he's not in school? It would be better then at different times. Can it be given at different times on some days than others throughout the week? I'm not thinking about school year/summer. I'm talking day to day. My dr hasn't gotten back to us on this yet and meanwhile I'm waiting on starting the med, which is getting longer and longer by the day! Thanks for any help!
