What to expect? | ADHD Information

My daughter has her first appoitment with a child psychologist this week. We have no expierence with going to anything like this. I am just wondering what we should expect while we are there. Any help/tips/advise is appreciated. Take copies of all the previous diagnostic work done (assessment forms, labs, etc.). Take in any meds that your daughter is currently on or has been on recently. Write a list of the issues that concern you in a rough order of the concern and what you want (diagnostic confirmation, rule out comorbid conditions, reassessment, etc). It is reall easy to forget to say things during doctor appointments.  Good luck.

i bumped this thread up for you, print it out and take it with you for a starting point.  hope it helps...

my dd goes tomorrow for her testing as well.  it's a starting point, that's for sure.  i just have to say that i've read enough here where i feel like i am no longer panicked. this is going to be a journey...that's for sure, but i believe we are on the right path.  i also joined chadd and reading the literature and watching their videotape truly reassured me that medicating *can* be the best choice for some children.  again, it's not an easy decision to make...nor will watching my dd on her first day of meds...i'm sure i'll be a posting threads here like crazy:) :) :)

anyways...thanks for the advice...vicki and ogram, i do enjoy reading all of the advice that you give to everyone here, it is much appreciated.
