Thanks for your quick reply, chases!  She does not have counseling now expect at school, but I will talk to the doctor about that too.  This happens in the mornings and afternoons.  Somehow she is able to contain herself pretty much at school at present.  I am afraid if it continues she will start acting out at school also.  Right now she says she only talks when she shouldn't, but I will talk to her teacher about what she sees.  Just wanted to get another viewpoint from others.  I feel validated. Thanks again.

I know that anxiety with ADHD is common, but how do you know when it's too much and that the child needs medication for the anxiety also?

I have the care of my granddaughter whose anxiety levels appear to causing extreme stress.  She can easily go off the wall and refuse to do such things as going to school, turning off the TV, etc.  I am not talking about upset, I am talking about UPSET!!  Screaming, yelling, threatening to do damage. kicking and hitting her sister, thoughts about violence is not unusual.  She has things in her past which I believe cause the anxiety.

What are your thoughts?

I would say that this is significant and should be discussed with the doctor.  Things to observe would be what time of day does this happen?  Only in the late afternoon/evening or basically all day?  Is it only when she is hungry or tired?  I would definately speak to the doctor about it.

Is she getting any coulseling for htese things in her past that you believe may be causing the anxiety?
