side effect of Dexedrine?? | ADHD Information

Although my son (on Concerta) does not habe a swallowing issue in the afternoon, I can tell you that even the long acting dose will wear off by about that timein the afternoon and you have to figure out how your child acts and what, if anything, you can do about it.

I would notice the next few afternoons as well and then call your pediatrician for advice. I have read about other children who get cold sores or have other mouth issues.

Thanks spotintime.  I plan on watching her for the next few days when it starts to wear off.  She actually did this until she fell asleep at 11:30.  She wasn't doing it when she woke up this morning. My 7yo daughter started her first meds today (Dexedrine).  It seemed to work great.  It appeared to start wearing off by about 3:30pm (approx 7 1/2 hrs after taking it).  At that time & still she has been making a smacking noise & swallowing real hard constantly (hard to describe but sounds kinda like she has a dry mouth?) I asked her why she is doing this & she just says she is just swallowing (but it is constant).  She was absolutely fine during the day, this only started when the med appeared to be wearing off.  Could this be some type of side effect & should I be worried?Good news!!  My daughter had NO side effects today other than a very mild headache.  No finger rubbing, no smacking, no upset stomach.....NOTHING!!!! Could it be a tic?
