At first I was wondering if it's just in that class, but then I see it was recess. Does she try this inside during other classes, but just not get as far? Does she show any other signs of ADHD or ODD? If this is the only thing, I'd try to see if something at school is bothering her. I didn't read your other post, so I don't know how old she is. Maybe the school counselor would talk to her. If it's stopped now, maybe it was just a passing phase. If it's continuing, keep asking questions at school until you get some sort of answer or at least some sort of arrangement that will help keep her safe when she's outside (e.g. assign two random classmate "buddies" each recess or P.E. class to help let teachers know if she takes off when they are looking at another area of the playground)
Didn't you say in your other thread that she has always had a problem with running off? Can you think of anything that would trigger it when you are around? Maybe there is a similar trigger at school.
This is something I would definitely want to discuss with her psych. It may be just that she has very little impulse control but I'd want to be certain.
I wrote last week how Raina decided to run off twice during PE class. I found out today, that later that afternoon, she did it again. This time, they were out at recess and when it was time to go in, Raina started running down the sidewalk and was determined she was coming home! Some of the kids started running after her and the teacher was able to get to her and bring her back in. I just don't know why she is trying to run off all of the time?! When I went up to the school earlier in the day, I explained how dangerous it could be if she took off like that. And then a couple hours later, she does it again? I just don't get it. Is acting like that any symptoms of ADHD and/or ODD? Because it doesn't sound like it to me, sounds like it could be something different. I'm desperate for any suggestions and/or opinions. Thank you.
