concerta = grouchy | ADHD Information

Share

I responded that it made me weepy in the evening hours. I am sometimes grouchy also.  The grouchiness comes and goes quickly but I've noticed that I get frustrated more in the evening.

Anyone else had this?

You should discuss this with your doctor. How long have you been on the Concerta? It could be your body adjusting as the meds are leaving the body or even rebound. If you have not been on the med long, your body may adjust to this with time. If rebound is occuring, you may adjust as well or you might look at adding a low dose of short acting med to ease the rebound. During the day, are you getting good benefit from the med? vickie39035.4165277778I have kinda noticed the grouchiness with concerta. I tend to be a little more anal about things at work which is not really a bad thing, or atleast my bosses dont think so. Yet my mood seems to be steady. I use to vary from day to day from being kinda depressed to being very happy and hyper. I also work a lot harder when using concerta and dont push jobs off like I might have done before. I use to feel kinda like how you where explaining chi chi but I added on 40mg of Strattera twice a day and take my concerta right in between my strattera doses. Strattera seemed to wake me up easier and get my brain moving.

Since you are haveing good results during the day, it would be good if you can stay on this effective med and ease the side effect. Your doctor should be able to work with this for you. My daughter's doctor said he has tons of ways to taylor the meds for a person's individual needs.

It sounds like you may just need a low dose short acting form to ease the evening; or get the Concerta dose split into 2 pills (to equal what you take now) and stager them by a couple hours to slow the rate that the med leaves the system and maybe ease it for you.

Some people sleep better with the meds because meds can calm the mind (my daughter is like that).

Good luck.

Great benefits during the day.  Not so great benefits in the late evening.  Have been sleeping better though.  Maybe it is from working hard all day long and tiring myself out.

I have an appointment for follow up on the 27th.  That will make one month that I have been taking the meds.

Thanks for the advice!

Could be rebound?    I had a major issues with that for awhile at a lower dose and timing of medication in the AM.  My rebound was hyperness not weeping though.  My doc does ask me sometimes if I feel depressed cause I think it can affect some people that way.
