Finally something that works-maybe it can | ADHD Information
This is such good news....you should ALL go celebrate because you have worked so hard for all of this
The medication has allowed your son's full potentitial to surface and that is the goal. Self esteem soars and the child begins to see their potential and worth and while there will always be bumps in the road, your son has begun to enjoy quality of life in all area's of life which is ultimately want all parents want for their children. Congratulations to your son and WAY TO GO MOM

It's been 7 months since my 10 year old sons adhd diagnosis. We have been through many meds; Concerta, Focalin, Adderall XR, and Strattera. I then asked the Dr. for the short acting Ritalin and after tweaking dosages, we have our son back. It's been a long year, but we are finally seeing the light. I beieve that the long acting medications do not work for my son, he does much better with the short acting.
He is taking 15mg's the minute he wakes up. We then leave him alone to do his own thing until the meds kick in, about 20 minutes. Then we start our morning routine which has been going very well. He then goes off to school and takes his second dose at 11:30am. I hated to do it at school, but we had no choice. He comes home at 3:15pm and we give him his 3rd does at 4pm. Homework gets done, without a fight.
The best news of all is that we got his report card yesterday. He was 1 point away from High Honors. He got all A's and 1 B. We have worked so hard together, and this was our reward. We are so proud right now.
I also must mention that we also do counseling, neurofeedback, he takes natural remedies, omega 3's and we have a behavior-reward system at home. I think the combination of everything is what has gotten us where we are.
Although we are on a good road right now, I am not naive to the fact that this could change at any time. We will continue to do what we are doing without letting our guard down and will just relish in the good days.
Ahhhh....
Congratulations on getting a treatment plan that is working. You and your son must both be so proud of the accomplishment.
