Amino Acid Therapy for ADD | ADHD Information

Share
Anyone else here use amino acid therapy for ADD? SueI tried phenylalanine once, but I tend to get migraine
headaches, and I think it brought one on.

I tried glutamine for a while, but I'm confused about
whether this is essentially the same as MSG, which
I avoid.

I used to use tryptophan to help me sleep and to treat
migraines, but it's hard to obtain now. I think we ought to have the right to buy essential nutrients without restriction.

I use choline and phosphatidylserine. Choline is not
an amino acid, but it is a precursor to a neurotransmitter. I'm not sure exactly what
phosphatidylserine is except that it's supposed to be good for the brain and
seems to help. The choline is suposed to help with
ignoring unwanted stimuli, and seems to work though it's hard to tell if it's coincidence.

Anybody else have information to add? I'm interested. Then you need to look at www.painstresscenter.com   They are the experts in amino acid therapies. You have to take all of these in balance as well as with nutrients that help your body absorb them. AFter you click on the site, click onto company information and then you can access the site easily. There are agbout 6-7 inhibitory neurotransmitters and l-glutamine is one of the main ones; gaba is also a very important one; they have protocols, in their books for ADD and all other sorts of problems; they will also do testing for you if you call them for information. Their products are superior and since taking the Brain Link, I hav e felt calm for the first time in my life. I really recommend them. Also you might be interested in a book called  "Trace Your Genes to Health," By Dr Christopher Reading. He solves medical problems others can't solve by looking at the history of the health patterns in the ancestral family of the individual. I just got it out of the library and it is fascinating. If you type him onto the net you will find alot of references to his work. I am finding the natural approach very helpful, and am also using the behavioral suggestions I read on the net, and I am using relationship techniques in my marraige from a book called Fascinating Womanhood. It is a highly successful marraige book    www.fascinatingwomanhood.net, and there is a book for men called Man of Steel and Velvet. They are both excellent. Also John Gray's book called The Mars and Venus Diet and Exercise Solution: Create the BRain Chemistry of Lasting Love, Romance, and Helath, or something like that has alot of relationship and diet clues in it.  SueWow! Thanks for the book and web suggestions! They sound -- umm -- "Fascinating"!

I read "Light His Fire" by Ellen Kriedman; maybe it's similar. You might like it.   I'll look up the books you suggest.
I liked "Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus", also
by John Gray.

You are very welcome. I am happy to share alternative solutions, as for me they always work best. I teach a class in FW; since  I have realized my husband has ADD, I am thinking about how to use the relationship skills in the book to deal with his behavior and responses, or lack of them. I have just started thinking about this, and am a friend of the author, and was sharing with her that I really want to take alot of time to think about how to use the wonderful principles she teaches in my particular situation which has baffled me until now. Take care and I hope some of the info is helpful to you- Sue

Bye the way, the first book I read from the Pain Stress Center was their book on GABA- it was an answer to prayer. Then Healing with Amino Acids and Nutrients was the next one I read, then the one on ADD and also the one on Breaking your Prescribed Addictions I have read. All of their books are excellent. Sue
