[QUOTE=k8t1]Hello,

I was an odd mix as a kid I was hyper sometimes ( only way Igot things done) and sometimes shattered .. I used to say I was born tired !!! It would be about 8 years ago that I really started to feel tiared all the time my son - now 16 - NEVER slept still does not ..and I was up all day and night. My daughter - now 12 - was easier but when 1 was up at night the other was up early in the morning !!! so I put a lot down to that . But about 6 years things got much worse lots of problems etc and I went on a diet .. lost about 6 stones but I felt SO ILL If I did not eat every so many hours I would shake and feel like jelly inside .. crave suger food big time .. Even when not hungry !! About 3 years ago I thought I was loosing it went to GPs and he diagnosed M.E / C.F.S. .. now I am a bit better but no where near well .. I want to go on a diet but told no my system can not take it ( i posted a note up ADHD and ME on this site- I really wanted some help / support on wanting to move and stop at the same time !!! ) How can you test for Dhea? I have never heard of it .. Moon6 Thank you and you too, EBurns and Gettingagrip for taking the time to respond. Moon6, I will put together an overview of Dhea for you and post it in the next couple of days. Meanwhile, I was wondering how old you were when you first realized that you were less active than others you age and also when you first began feeling tired all the time? Thanks! k8t1 Hi .. this sounds a lot like M.E / C.F.S... that I have .. this is interesting PS on the temp .. do you have problems regulating your own temp? Can I have some more info please Symptoms of congenital Dhea deficiency may include: No. You mean this is a disorder? Constant fatigue -Yes, but has gotten better since starting adderall XR. Low blood pressure - No, I have high blood pressure. Autoimmune disease - Hypothyroidism, Fibromyalgia, Lupus, Arthitis, Diabetes, Scleroderma, etc. - No. Low Libido - Yes. Drive to eat high sugar foods - Yes, but again not nearly as much since starting the Adderall XR. Feeling queasy with normal physical movement like loading the dryer - No. Frequently feeling faint while standing in one place for an extended period or upon standing up - No. Muscle weakness - may be experienced as inability to perform or sustain physical tasks. - No. Cold and/or heat intolerance - this means you seem to be much more uncomfortable than others in cold and/or heat - Always intolerant of cold. The heat intolerance didn't start till I got high blood pressure. Unusual fat distribution - much more fat on the hips, thighs and buttocks than on the upper half of the body (two or more sizes difference between pants and blouse size) - Yes, the size thing was true even when I didn't have much fat on my body. Overweight but with slender face, neck and hands. - Not sure. Dislike of physical activity - just about any physical activity - No. Hello, I am a woman with Inattentive type ADD and also part of a family with a 'rare' hormone disorder. We have a serious defect in the production of Dhea which endocrine reseachers find interesting since we are able to reproduce normally. Every member of the family with this hormone disorder also has ADD. We feel, as does the neurosteroid researcher studying us, that the two disorders are related in a cause and effect manner- that the Dhea deficiency is causing the ADD symptoms. (Dhea is made by the brain in large quantities.) We are wondering if the disorder we have is really rare or just rarely identified since doctors, including endocrinologists, seldom test for Dhea and even if they do, often misinterpert the results due to laboratory reference ranges that are not age specific. I would appreciate your taking a moment to see if you have any of symptoms listed of Dhea deficiency and then respond to me indicating which symptoms you have. Many of these physical symptoms may not develop until adulthood even though the ADD expresses in childhood. If there are other women out there with the same disorder we have, they need to know, as do the researchers working with us. Appreciate your help!
