input on braces please! | ADHD Information

I would get a second opinion if you can afford to.  They probably will charge for an appointment.  Some  ortho's only get patients by referrals from regular dentists and don't take patients through the open door.  My son's ortho is a good ortho but his office leaves something to be desired.  My ex mother in law paid for my son's braces (bless her) and I had one hygienist say very loudly your grandmother is paying for these and you need to be doing better.  Made me feel like a charity case.  But I called regular dentist and complained and they called them and told them about it.

I just finished adult orthodontics about 9 mos. ago.  My DD has had phase 1 orthodontics.

Prices do vary greatly.  Unfortuantely, what I found after calling several place to check on their hours, was the bigger , well known practice (most expensive and very modern and kid friendly) was the only place that had convienent hours of operation.  The other three places didn't have any late afternoon or evening hours and I didn't want to take my DD out of school early a couple of times a month, so we went with the more expensive place for that reason.  You will be making a LOT of trips there in the beginning, so definitely consider their location and hours of operation!

Best of luck!

I wanted to add, it never hurts to get a second opinion.  You may find another Orthodontist doesn't even agree with the treatment plan suggested.

Patrick has a pretty nice set of teeth, one that I would have given my eye-teeth for when I had to have braces.  Still, the orthodontist found stuff that needed to be corrected...to the tune of 25.00!  He'll look like this :-{#)  but I'll look like this :'{

This may be a stretch, but does anyone know whether if we get second and third opinions the price will differ?  I would like to go with the orthodontist we've been referred to.  She's nice, her office is really up-to-date and kid friendly and it's conveniently located.  Dh wants to hunt around for prices (which means I hunt and report my findings to him!)  He works about 60-70 hrs a week and I've just started a new job and can't really afford to go running to a lot of different othodontists for prices.  Should I ask the orthodontist for references from other patients she's treated?  I'm going to call the dentist and ask her if prices vary from one practice to the next.  Any ideas or input would be appreciated! Thanks!

The price can vary from 00 to 00. My daughter will run 00 for 18 months in the plan that we will start in the spring. This includes head gear because her bite is off by an entire tooth. Unfortunately she needs surgery to bring down a wayward front tooth, which will be expensive (in addition to the orthodontia).

I would get another reference from the dentist that refered you to this ortho just for comparison. That way what ever you decide, you (and dh) will not be second guessing your decision based on unknown information.

vickie39045.4941203704I agree, my oldest dd's braces cost roughly 00, get a second and even a third opinion. I went to ortho's until i found one that didn';t want to pull half my kids teeth out first!
