He does notice a difference!! | ADHD Information

Good luck with itkeep us posted.  luv is right.  some times we are too close to notice the slow changes.  Upping dosages are needed from time to time.  After a while, we upped our ds' dose and MAN, what a difference 5mgs make!

My husband started on Concerta 36mg a couple weeks ago, and has been saying he didn't notice too much difference.  I have had to kind of lurk around him with his pill in the mornings to make sure that he takes it, and sometimes he has had the attitude of "So what, it really isn't doing anything", but he humors me and takes it.

So he has this towing service and there is always little rifts going on between him and the other towing service in our county, the deputies and the state troopers who call the wrecker and so on, having to do with who gets more calls, who is favored, etc.  Recently a towing service got put on our county rotation list that is 2 counties away and it would take him 45 minutes at least to respond to an accident to clear a road!  We can be anywhere in the county in 15 minutes.  anyhow this angered Jon so much, that he called the lieutenant at the state patrol post and discussed it.  In the past, he would have reamed him and probably gotten thrown off the the rotation list altogether, but he was able to keep his cool, and discuss things like an adult.  This showed him that the medication was helping.

This morning, as he went out the door to tow a 2 car crash on the busiest highway in our area, he said..."There, see if that guy from 2 counties away could clear the highway as quickly as me....oh, I almost forgot my pill!"  And then he got his pill, and took it as he left for the crash, saying "I gotta call that lieutenant back on Monday to see what he decided about that!"

Another thing I noticed is that he didn't sit and stew about the situation all week.  Before he would have griped and complained so much and so constatnly that I would cringe when he came home from work or called on the phone, knowing that it would be the only subject he had on his mind.  This time, he let it go for the most part, waiting for the lieutenant's decision patiently.... previously unheard of in Jon-land.

We are calling the doctor tomorrow to see if we can get the dose upped to 54mg and see if he does even better on that dosage.

Chasesmom, sometimes the peron doesn't notice the changes but others around them do. Perhaps upping the dose a bit will result in maximum benenfit for your husband

That is what we are hoping.  The rest of us (that know, the 2 girls do, they are adults, the boys don't) have noticed that he has more even moods now,and doesn't 'explode' quite so quickly.

We are going to call the doc tomorrow.

Thanks
