I just wanted to post an update on dd's weight issue. When she started meds about 1 year ago, she lost 3 lbs and finally gained them back by last month. She was 50 lbs and 49". Anyway, 2 weeks ago she started Tenex, and we dropped back the Ritalin LA. I weighed her last night just for fun, and she was 57 lbs!! With a 2 lb allowance for her clothes, she put on 5 lbs in a month! The weird thing is, I don't see it on her. She still looks skinny to me. But I also weighed her sister and that weight looked correct, so the 57 lb must be right.
So I conclude that it is the Tenex that is helping her to put the weight on.
p.s. Her behavior has also improved. She isn't doing the finger-picking like she was on the higher dose of Ritalin LA. She also is more even-tempered after school--such a relief!
cr12345mr39049.3430671296I am so happy to hear you are getting good results from the Tenex. I too, like the results of adding tenex (guanfacine) to methylphenidate for my daughter.
That's so great she gained weight!! My son lost weight at the beginning (taking Concertta), over the summer he was able to gain a few pounds.
He continues to pick his fingers, has for quite a few years. It's affecting his writing as it's usually the middle finger or thumb he picks and peels off.
wahoooooooo! that is great to hear:) i will keep tenex in mind if my dd starts to lose weight...this weight/med issue is all new to us.
