As a pro-medication parent (but who also know what it's like if the medication is coursing more side effects than positives) I would be happy to help with your paper. How would you like to contact me.
Hi my name is Cyndi and I am in need of some help. First let me give you my back ground and goals. I have worked in the EBD special education program at the elementary level for a few years now. I decided to return to school and get my teaching degree in Special education. I will be finished with my schooling in about a year. I love working with children that have behavioral disabilities because they are wonderful people.
I am currently writing a paper on medicating children with behavioral disabilities. I have found so many opinions on this subject that my poor head is spinning. As a parent or professional could your give me your own opinion and what has worked best. I know society seems to think that we medicate children way too much and maybe this is true. However, I do not have a child with a behavioral disability so it is hard for me to say which side of the story is right. I have three children and I can’t imagine them having to deal with something like ADD or ADHD, sometimes it can run a child’s life and I know that must be hard for the whole family.
Again, any opinions or advice for me would be wonderful.
I'm not a parent but am an Adult with severe ADHD that was not medicated as a child. As an adult I have chosen to be on medication and it has been an amazing help. If I could go back and do it all over again I would have wanted to be on meds as a child because life was extremely difficult both at home and in school. I don't know if this is the experience you are looking for but if I can offer any help let me know.
MafiaKiddo,
Thank you so much, yes that does help. Many times we as adults think we know what is best for children but sadly they are the ones having to deal each day with the issues they are faced.
Thank you again, it helps me when thinking of medicating children as a whole.
Cindy
Tarryanne,
If you could email me privately, I could forward you a list of questions I have compiled. I would love to hear your views as a parent. The children and the parent’s side of this subject is the most important because they are the ones who are affected the most.
Thank you so very much,
Cyndi
