Ritalin to Adderall | ADHD Information

I'm 53, 150 lbs. and am taking 40 mg/day adderall xr.  Somewhere I got the impression that 60 mg/day was the stated maximum daily dose for Adderall, but not sure...    what does TID stand for(BID too!)?

I'm a 44 yr old woman and weigh 125 lbs with "severe" ADHD and had been taking 20mg Ritalin TID for approx 8 years with wonderful results (and no adverse reaction) but began to experience severe headaches and simply could not tolerate Ritalin any longer.  By the way, we dont have an explanation for this except to figure age-related biochemical changes, etc. since my other meds have also needed adjustment....(what a time-consuming total DRAG that process was......I was very fortunate to have remained so stable for 12 years, only needing one increase in Ritalin dosage during that time).  I don't have prescription coverage so we decided on regular Adderall  because of generic availability.  I began with 10mg TID and quickly increased to 20mg TID.  From what I've read, that seems a very high dose.  I would be interested in feedback from others regarding their dosage, tolerance, etc.  I apologize for being so long-winded, but i'm sure you all understand and can relate!!  Thanks much for your help!
