Hyper Child | ADHD Information

Well, I have seen posts here of children 3 years old being diagnosed with it.  I am assuming children that young must be extreme cases to be differentiated from normally hyper 3-year-olds.  In our case, dd was officially diagnosed at age 6.From some of teh posts here it seems that some doctors will diagnose early but only medicate from about six.

Do children have to be a certain age to be checked for ADHD?

I alway new there was something speciale about my son and had a funny feeling he was ADHD after reading about it.  He was 7 when  he was tested.  The sooner you have your child tested the sooner you can help your child which in return helps the whole family.

my son was offically diagnosed and medicated at age 6 but I knew for about 2yrs before that he had adhd I just tried to deal with it on my own before I finally gave in and put him on medication.

And now he is also diagnosed with so much more.

I agree that you should go to someone who can diagnose more than just adhd cause it makes life a little easier if you can find everything out at the same time.

At least for me it gave me more patience with him once I knew why he was doing some of the things he was doing.
