drugs and ADHD | ADHD Information

There are over four million children being given psychotropic drugs every day for their inability to focus or pay attention.  But, at best, the drugs only control the symptoms of this disorder while no one ever talks about the cause of it, nor does anyone talk about the cure.  What baloney.  My older son supposedly had "ADHD."  Every time I asked the pediatricians, family docs, or psychiatrists what caused it, they all said "No one knows," and "Studies seem to indicate a genetic component," blah, blah, blah.  So, if it is genetic, how do the genes cause ADHD to appear?  Do they take out a megaphone and tell all the cells in the brain to line up in an ADHD formation?  Do they send out a memo? ha!  Genes use two things to make things happen:  they use electrical impulses and natural "bio" chemicals.  But no doc ever talks about these bio- chemicals.  All they talk about are man-made, synthetic, patented chemicals.  And, of course, that comes as no surprise to anyone, considering the fact that med schools are supported by millions and millions of dollars every single year from drug companies.  Is anyone really surprised that docs just prescribe chemicals for everything that ails you?   The ADHD brain is the result of a bio-chemical imbalance caused by some of the bio-chemicals being deficient.  These biochemicals include Omega-3 fatty acids, zinc, B-6, vitamin C, magnesium, etc, namely, a lot of 100% natural ingredients that don't mean more than a few pennies of profit for anyone.  In my family, we tend to have the problems associated with a B-6 deficiency which include:  pyroluria, tingling in the hands and/or feet, acrodynia (which has lots of symptoms including  pink itching hands or feet, profuse sweating, periods of apathy alternating with periods of irritability - sounds like "bipolar" doesn't it?) as well as a lot of anxiety.  You have to choose:  you either control your child's symptoms with drugs and ignore the real cause or you start looking for the cause and eventually dump the drugs.  Which do you want for your child?  (I'm sorry if I sound preachy - we've lived a nightmarish 17 years all caused by ADHD and drugs.  I've written a book about it which will be published by Acorn Publishing by about June.  Hopefully, it will give people enough info so that they know how to treat ADHD for real, not just cover up the symptoms.)  Linda
