Adderrall XR dispensing question | ADHD Information

My dd's doctor gives her a 50-60 day supply at a time.  We can't get ours through the mail pharmacy though as I have to show ID & sign for her meds.  Check with your provider.  Good luck!30 day supply ata time in the US.Sox

There are not FDA rules that limit a script for 30 days. It's up to the insurance provider if they want to allow a 90 day script. My previous provider was United Healthcare and they allowed a 90-supply if ordered through their mail-order pharmacy. I'm now on an Aetna plan and they offer the same. The process was to get the 90-day script, send to the mail-order phgarmacy, get approval (my doctor had to contact the provider) and that was it.

It's sure as hell more convenient than having to get a script every month. Contact your provider and see what they will do.

Best of luck to you.

We are military and receive care and prescriptions through the military facility.  My son's pediatrician writes a script for 90 days at a time unless we are trying a new dosage or new med.

I don't think this would have been allowed if there was a law to only allow 30 days at a time.  It must just be a policy that your doctor has.

The final word from my insurance co. is they can dispense 90 through mail order on a co-pay but the Rx needs to be re-written every 90.  Better than me going to retail every 30 and paying 30. MD wasn't aware that this would be allowed. Thanks to all who responded.Anyone know how much can legally be dispensed at once? I know it's controlled but I was wondering, since my Rx plan allows up to a 90 day supply with a co-pay, is it legal to dispense 90?  I've received 2 different answers.  My doctor said he can only write for a 30 day at a time.  My Anthem Rx plan said, if they have the written Rx for 90, if the doctor calls them and tells them he wants to dispense 90, then they will.  Some sort of prior authorization from the MD allows them to do this.  Just trying to avoid paying 30 every 30 vs. 30 every 90.  Thanks
