I need a DRUG but YOUR INPUT FIRST | ADHD Information

Thanks for your input. I got 10mg Adderall XR and started this morning. I should be studying, but as usual, I'm online doing everything but studying...   Maybe 10mg XR doesn't cut it for a 200 pound, 28 year old male?medstudentadhd39064.6429976852No, I wouldn't think so. 10 mg XR was not enough for my 10-year-old. He takes 15mg.  Maybe they're thinking that if you start slowly, you'll adjust better with fewer side effects and then move up gradually to the right dose for you.  I am a med student about to flunk out and have been diagnosed with ADHD. My doctor said he'd prescribe adderall xr but I don't know if that has a loading phase (and my finals are next week). Does ANYBODY know what I should take to have immediate effects? I've avoided meds after my diagnosis but obviously it has shown after I failed my midterm. PLEASE HELP ME OUT. Thanks.Adderall should work immediately. It saved my brother who was having trouble in med school.

I think with the stimulants, most of them have an effect pretty much right away, but get better over time as you find the correct dosage.

Don't know much about adderal, but my daughter takes dexedrine & showed positive effects pretty much right away!  Good luckI wouldn't think that would be enough for you either.  My daughter who is on dexedrine takes 10mg......she is 7 & weighs 43 lbs.

I agree they were probably trying to load my body up slowly, but interestingly enough - on my first day I experienced: Anxiety, hot flashes, muscle twitching, depression and bone pain that has been gone for a few months now... If it helps me through this final exam, it'll all be worth it. As soon as I feel it wearing off, I drink a coffee and it seems to reactivate the effects (for me). Okay thanks for your input.

medstudent.........the dose of medication is not determined by weight or age with stimulant medications. This is only true of Straterra which is a non stimulant. The dosing is all individual and thats why patients go through a trial of meds. The meds are started at the lowest dose possible and then raised until maximum benefit is seen. The goal is maximum benefit, minimal side effects at the lowest dose possible. Good luck!

I don't know if you're kidding or not, but I actually signed on to ask your opinions if it's okay to double my dose on XR. Thanks!!
