Hi everyone,
Was wondering if anyone knows if adhd has anything to do with Frontal Lobe Syndrome??? im trying to do some research into what my psychiatrist said to me the other day that he rekons i was born with frontal lobe syndrome and he doesnt know why cause people only get this if they have ever had brain injury before, during or after birth or if a child or adult has a accident in their life time!!! this doesnt make sense cause ive never had such an injury. aparently the symptoms of this syndrome are similar to adhd symptoms affecting the front part of the brain. He wants me to try a drug that people with schizophrenia take -quetiapine- to relieve my problems, but ive been cleared of not having schizophrenia, and im on dexedrine for adhd.
Can anyone help me with any information, or is their anyone out there who have both adhd and fls???
Thanx for your reply jaderock54
the only "injury" ive had is i had lead poisoning as a kid wich aparently can cause brain abnormalities and can also cause adhd? i have read that book, the problem i have is that doctors where i live dont really believe in the adhd, there always denying it and my closest phychiatrist is 4 hours away.
I've never heard of FLS. Have you read Healing ADD by Daniel Amen? He does these Spect scans of people's brains, but with and without ADHD and compares them. You can actually see that there is decreased activity in the frontal lobe in people with ADHD.
I find it kind of odd that he would think you had something that people only get if they've had an injury if you've never been injured. If the symptoms are the same as ADHD, then wouldn't that be the more obvious dx? Or is there a symptom of FLS that ADHD doesn't have? Now I'm curious.
