pencil tapping solution | ADHD Information

The watch is not that loud - it is just a timex.  She holds it up to her ear so it is loud to her - I am sure the other kids can't even hear it.

What a great idea!  My yougest son's teacher addressed his pencil tapping at our conference last week.  I hadn't any idea how to approach it.  Look like I'll be heading out for a watch.  Certainly worth a try :)

Definitely try it out!  We tried stress balls, worry stones, velcro under her desk (teacher's suggestion), tapping the pencil on tissues (so that it didn't make any noise) and none of them worked for us but so far the watch is working! Good Luck!

and that wont distract other children?Just wanted to throw this out there - my daughter was constantly getting in trouble in school for tapping her pencil on the desk and after numerous 'creative' efforts that did not work, we found that by holding a loud, ticking wristwatch up to her ear while taking tests and doing seat work, it seems to help her immensely.  We talked to her psych about it and he agreed that the sound often helps kids with  add/adhd concentrate and focus.  It's a cheap solution if it works.  (We just bought a .00 Timex for kids.)Hey, we are going to try that! Thanks! Thanks for the idea.Funny you should post this because my son is EXTREMELY auditorily distracted and now his teacher doesn't allow kids to wear watches that beep every hour.  He would watch the clock and anticipate people's watches going off.  I would't think a ticking watch would be heard but my son amazes me with his bionic ears and I'd bet a kid next to him with a ticking watch would drive him batty!
