Has he been going through a stressful time? Some interesting reading:

vickie39065.620162037I am fairly new to the forum and, unfortunately, unfamiliar with the drugs you are talking about. Are they stims? You might want to look at the list of warnings for the drugs to see if they list tics as a side effect.
My son was on Concerta 10mg and when we upped it to 27mg he started having severe facial tics after a while, so bad that his face swelled up on one side. When we lowered the dose the tics diminished. When we stopped the drug all together over the summer the tics went away. When we put him back on the drug for school the tics started coming back. Since we took him off for good, no more tics. The respected pediatric neurologist we took him to said it was just a coincidence. I thought doctors were supposed to be smart ????
Friends with kids on meds have had very similar experiences but they just medicate for the tics and then medicate for the side effects of the tic meds. Just be glad he doesn't have phobias or hallucinations. My son also became phobic about germs whenever he was on meds.
As a parent, it is so hard seeing your child suffer. Just do the best you can and keep looking at alternatives. I like the book "Optimum Nutrition for Your Child's Mind" by Patrick Holford.
Thank you for your thoughtful posts. He is going through a stressfull time right now, and that could be adding to the problem.
