absolutely ridiculous.  It's the boogeyman of homeopaths and other nutjobs.

To blame yeast overgrowth on things like ADHD symptoms is reckless and total quackery.

Please oldtimer - stop flinging the paranoia around.

Let's try to work with good scientific methodology for helping ADHD.

it's the cycle of ivanhoe.  used to be oldtimer and brent.  there were  a few other id names, but i cannot remember them off hand. the threads make no since at all to any one except for him/her.  first he says he is a he, then he says he is a she.WILL LESSON ABSORBTION AND CAN EFFECT CONCENTRATION ALSO. i READ IT EFFECTS THE WHOLE BODY/BRAIN BOTH. LOOK UP THE SYMPTOMS.

What has this got to do with ADHD medications???

This forum is for parents and others who want to discuss medications that treat ADHD.  Not yeast over growth....not what can cause symptoms of ADHD, not anything but ADHD meds and how they and teh side effects affect us and our children that take them.

Since you and your children take no MEDICATIONS for your ADHD, I do not see why you even frequent this forum.

And Frankly, I am sick of you coming here trying to make others stop taking them.  We have weighed the pros and cons of the meds and have made a painstaking decision to medicate our children.  No amout of you blurting out reasons why we shouldn't is going to change our minds, especially since your comments are so totally off the wall, they do not even make sense!

WHAT YOU DO IS YOUR CHOICE. i STILL BELIEVE ALL THINGS SHOULD BE DONE BEFORE THROWING DX AROUND. I THINK NO ONE REALLY NOWS IT'S BEEN A GUESSING GAME. WE STARTED LOOKING SINCE OUR SON WAS 4 MONTHS NOW 10 YRS. NO ONE CAN AGREE ON A DX OR EVEN LOOKED AT A DEVELOPMENTAL PROBLEM IN OUR CASE. i THINK UNTIL ALL THINGS ARE EVALUATED FOR THAN IT'S STILL A BAD DX.  

maybe this particular post did not tell us meds were bad/ineffective, but most of your posts do.  All of us on this thread have our diagnosis and the meds are working at least somewhat for our children/ourselves. We are sorry that you cannot find the problem with your son/daughter...maybe there is NO medical issue????

There may be a link but it is not proven at this time.

There is a alternative product called Candex that one can take which can help candida over-growth.

I used it for about 2 months, I don't think it helped my ADHD(this was 2 years ago, and I did not even know what ADHD was back then!) , but it did help the pain in my joints somewhat. The good thing about it is it has no side effects.(other candida cleanser meds do)

The medication that a medical doctor would prescribe for candida-over growth is called Diflucan. I took that too, but I actually had better results with Candex!!

the problem is I don't want to take 10 diff. meds at the same time. But that's just me.

Probiotics work well also for yeast, but yeast overgrowth is not respobsible for all adhd symptoms.

My thoughts exactly....His/her? Child is apparently 10 now, but he/she has suspected ADHD since the age of 4 mos...........sets off my meter....

Candida over growth happens after taking years of Anti-biotics or as a result of Chemo therapy in cancer patients, or lead poisening or stuff like that!!

 there is no way a 4 month old child will have candida over growth! his/her digestion track is brand new and hopefully will not get abused by Chemo, over-dose of drugs or lead to have that problem!

In my case, with my mother being a nurse, I was fed anti-biotics ever since I was 2 years old for every sickness....and since I had a deviated syptom in my nose , I constantly have sinus infections......I just recently had a deviated syptom surgry and fixed the problem...but since I took so much anti biotics since I was a kid, by the time I was in my late 20's I had candida over growth...

 

Be careful with what you give to that child!

I had an ALCAT test done and my 5 year old tested positive for candida.  Some of you may remember he was in an orphanage for 2 1/2 years before we got him and lead has been an issue in the area.  The way the nutritionist explained it to me yeast can affect attention but worse is that if you are reacting a little to a food (like dyes) the yeast can make the reaction worse.  As well as other allergies.  Any help or opinions?
