Went today for my ADHD Testing | ADHD Information
The good news Shawn is that you can't fail a test for ADHD. All you are doing is cluing the evaluator in as to whether you have it and if so, what type it is and how severe.
I'm not surprised that your hubby doesn't have a clue. Mine doesn't either.
I found that when I asked my girlfriend to help me out with getting a diagnosis, she also couldn't tell me any of my adhd symptoms. The same procrastiating, forgetful and inattentive symptoms that she'd been complaining about for years.
Isn't it funny how as soon as a disorder comes into the equation, they suddenly go from "god you are so damn distractable and irresponsible" to "what are you talking about. adhd? There's nothing wrong with you, you're perfectly normal!"
Hi shawnb. Can i ask, what does the testing involve? Am i right in thinking that your test is to see if you have adhd? In that case, in the part where you said you failed miserabally, would that not be failed but confirmed your adhd? Sorry, im a bit confused.
im glad you got your appointment sooner than you thought. ive got it all to come yet
good luck
Let me just say it was HARD! I still have a coupl e more things to complete tomorrow when I'm there with my daughter. I was there for 4 hours and it was so mentally draining it wasn't funny. They did an IQ test, a computer test where I had to click my mouse or space bar when a letter came up, but do NOT click on the letter "X" when it popped up. I feel like I failed miserably on that one, it was LONG and Boring! The whole time I was there I felt so anxious and panicky that I could not stop fidgeting, seemed even worse than normal and she noticed that.. making me flip the pages myself so that I could keep my hands busy instead of playing with my rings or my hands or bouncing my legs. I normally do this all the time anyway, but I guess the tension was just too great today.
Now I have to sit with my daughter through this tomorrow I have to fill out some paperwork for her, and my husband has to fill out a couple of things about me, to which my surprise he's totally clueless on how I really act and am.
I'll update as soon as I find out anything.
Well.. the testing they did for me was not just for ADHD, but also an IQ test, and testing for possible disorders that surround ADHD like OCD, Anxiety, Depression etc.. etc..
The computer test I guess may have just been to see how my response was Not sure what that was for.
My worrying about failing was because I wasn't sure if that was an ADD test or part of the IQ testing

yeah, I know you don't fail an IQ test either, but I certainly didn't want it to lower my score any

There were these questions asking me to define words.. like Audacious, Consume, Generate (about 75 of them) Verbal Math problems that were mostly those word problems about how if gum is on sale 2 for .31 cents and you have a 5.00 bill how many pieces can you get? (they got harder as we went and I was not allowed a pencil and paper)
Had photos that I was flipping through and had to pick out what was wrong in them
Had these cards with pictures that tell a story and I had to put them in order
Looked at pictures of puzzles and had to copy the design using these colored blocks.
About 1000 questions pertaining to either "Strongly Agree, Agree, Nut, Disagree, Strongly Disagree" type things
Had to answer things like World history questions, Who painted the Sisteen Chapel, Who was Ghandi etc..
Then there was a short ADHD form of 66 questions.
I can't remember the other tests & nbsp;
Today I had to answer these T/F Questions (Book with 550 questions) and then I had a couple more booklets to do totaling 750 questions today.
My daughter was done in 2 hours... and they were still waiting on me to finish my stuff because I couldn't sit still long enough getting bored of answering the same questions over and over again! Plus I was in an office alone with my 3 year old daughter (my husband had to work today at the last minute) while my 5 year old was with the Therapist.
I have to take a questionnaire form to my daughters' teacher to fill out and hand back in and then we have to wait 3 weeks to get the results!
I'm getting that same thing.. There's nothing wrong with you (until I say something and then he's like "That's the stupidest thing I've heard in my life") and wonders what's wrong with me.
