serious post adverse reaction to adderall:"So it can cause addiction. This message is from a long time misuser,” ”I’ve been a (almost daily) methylamphetamine (very similar to Dextroamphetamine) user for the last 10 years or so. I want to quit, but am having problems with the withdrawal. I am perfectly functional with light to moderate use, but become totally non-functional when I'm not on the drug. Not only do I experience the usual symptoms (irritability, extreme depression, inability to get going, etc.), but I also experience strange seizure-like brain anomalies. These can be quite frightening, usually occurring while lying down before I get to sleep and kind of feel like an aneurysm(a weak spot in a blood vessel that causes it to swell like a balloon and possibly burst. ) and like all the neurons in my brain fire at once or like fireworks going off in my head." i have these symptoms and only took adderall for one year not with misuse, the prescribed dosage.no addiction...i have now been off of them for over a year and these symptoms she has written about feel quite serious and a bit impairing...could you please give me feedback. the experience of the seizure like brain anomalies is quite frightening and happens to me when i stretch, do yoga, ect. the fatigue is persistent. is there anyone else experinecing this and what feedback have you heard on this problem? where do i go to care for this? my purpose of writing in this forum is to find out if there is anyone else who is sharing these symptoms and to find out what they did about it , because i have them and i have now read in the article that i attached above, http://www.adhdezine.com/speed.html,someone else has them which means there maybe a connection to the fact we both have taken this drug and when off of it ,this odd phenomena on brain like seizures has occurred which she wrote.which honestly was a relief for me to finally read someone has these symptoms which have gone unexplained thus far in my search.i have so far been seeing dr.s and received blood test that have no explanation. never had i even thought about adderall being a cause for i had been off of it for a year, the symptoms started withing 2 months following. i have otherwise been in fine state of health and not ever had any addictions.therefore it would be nice to start finding out why this is occurring. it is possible this is a rare adverse reaction to the drug as is getting cardiomyopathy from adderall, rare but it happens. my inquiry is not to fear others yet in hopes to find out for myself if anyone else has shared this experience as i am and can help. Please post a link to this article, I'm sure you're worrying over nothing, but be warned you will find people who will be glad to feed your fears. the link to the article is http://www.adhdezine.com/speed.html,at the bottom of the page. worrying over nothing, i wish i was concerned over nothing...i have been carrying these symptoms for over a year now, while i am doing stretches , sometimes simply standing up, i get the precise reaction she describes in my brain, fall to the ground in a faint like state, with a pounding and seizure like symptom...all occuring after i got off adderall a year ago, as she said in the article happens to her her when she lays down. being i am yoga teacher ,this has disabled me from being able to do many poses myself, for the reaction of the seizure in my brain occurs, causing me to fall to the ground with this pounding in my head. Well, that site is an anti-med site. OK, they got a right to their opinion. But using message board postings, from people like you and me as a basis for a web-page is not science. It creates fear, people who use fear to peddle their books are the lowest sort of scum. Notice they did not post any positive messages about ADD drugs. I don't want my news from Michael Moore or Rush Limbaugh, I want it from someone who is unbiased. What has your doctor said? If adderall was causing people to have brain seizures I'm sure the dirt would have come out by now. Maybe the same thing that led you to use adderall in the first place is causing the problem, but it sounds like a blood flow issue. I would start taking one aspirin (full strength, uncoated) today and talk to a doctor ASAP. If you have blood problems (it's too sticky, or too many red blood cells etc, you can get cholesterol build up in your brain too) they can treat that and have you back to normal fairly quickly. If you abused in the past you need to tell your doctor that. |
