Anyone take Adderall and Wellbutrin? | ADHD Information

Share
Well, I've been on Effexor (antidepressant) and I started Adderall XR a month
ago and I've felt a lack of interest in being around other people. I didn't
know what it was from, well I'm still not sure what it's from.

Day 10 of Wellbutrin and the depression's not going away.  Any input?

Went to the doc today and he changed my antidepressant from zoloft to wellbutrin.  Any thoughts or advice?  He also added klonopin for anxiety.  I haven't heard a lot of positive things about Wellbutrin on this site....Looking for feedback on the combo!!!

Thanks!

Actually, we have only positive things to say about Wellbutrin!  My DD14 has been on it for almost 5 years with no side effects at all.  We have slowly had to increase the dosage over the years - started out at 100 and topped out at 400.  We felt that for such a high dosage, it was not doing as much as it should for concentration, so we weaned her off and started on a few different stimulants, she has not done well with them at all.  So she is presently going back to the 300 mg daily dose and we will add a tiny bit of focalin or straterra and see how that goes.  It was a godsend for four years and still does a great job on everything but concentration right now.  Good luck with it - I think its a great choice!Irishrosie, how does it work for depression?  That is what they are using it for.  I take Adderall for focus, concentration.  We'll see!  Gotta go get my script now!  Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays to you! When we first had her tested, she had combined type, mostly inattentive and had "depressive tendencies".  Within 1 week, her teachers were asking me what was going on and the whole school noticed what a happier, calmer, more enjoyable kid she was.  I really hope it works as well for you!  I know finding the right med can be tough, and I know other people have not had good effects from it, but for us, it clicked.  She was a bit headachy for about 3 days, but that was it. Good Luck! Both my 9 year old daughter and I are on a combination of Adderall XR and Wellbutrin.  My daughter takes it in order to be able to focus in school.  It appears to have helped with this.  I am presently on 75 mg twice daily not only for focusing, but to help with depression.  I have noticed some improvement, but feel as if I might need to have my dose increased.  Neither of us have experienced side effects. This has been a Godsend in itsself, as neither of us have tolerated other antidepressants very well.  Both Zoloft and Prozac have increased my daughters hyperactivity and impulsiveness.  She also broke out with a rash on the Zoloft.  Prozac appeared to make me more depressed, and I just wanted to sleep all day (I had not yet been diagnosed with the ADHD).  I had similar side effects with Effexor.

I've been on Wellbutrin for almost a year and am about to add Adderall to the mix.  I've had great results with the Wellbutrin for depression, but it hasn't really done much for attention/focus issues.  I wasn't sure at first, cause the first antidepressant I tried was Zoloft and it made me feel great.  I didn't know till later that people also use it for ADHD- it was helping with those symptoms as well, but then I had some trouble with "potentially serious side effects".

It took me a little while to realize that the Wellbutrin was working, but one day it occurred to me that it had been weeks since I thought about driving my car off the road, or otherwise causing harm to myself and I wasn't bursting into tears several times a day.  I've also had no side effects at all.  I really can't say enough good things about this drug, but keep in mind that it works differently for everyone.

I'm seriously considering asking for welbutrin in it's stop-smoking form in conjunction with my dexedrine.  Its nice to hear that it's well tolerated in some here.  I'll post my reaction if and when I take the two!

It's funny because after 6 days on the combo adderall SR and wellbutrin, I am seeing a tremendous difference.  While the wellbutrin doesn't seem to make me feel as "up" as the zoloft did, they say it takes 4 to 6 weeks to reach it's full effects.  Also, I'm feeling more interested in my husband again and that feels good.  This is a combo that I think more docs should try because Wellbtrin may fill in the gaps when the adderall has worn off??  I don't know.  I just know I feel better!

Thanks everyone!

O.K., really weird.  Today, I am more depressed than I was before.  Anyone experience this when starting wellbutrin.  I have absolutely no interest in anything, don't feel like being around people and just overall feel bad.  Any input?
