I’m new here

My husband found this web site for me because I have a question about something I am considering trying for my son.  This looks like a really good place to get some answers and ideas.  I think it could also cheer me up about my own situation to come see that others have it worse!

A little about my family, I have ADHD, as do at least 3 of my 4 children (only one diagnosed so far, the 10 year old).  I have done a ton of reading in the last year and a half since the two of us were diagnosed.  We are both on Strattera, which I thank God for.  It works well, but of course, there are still problems.  My son is a smart kid (aren't they all?) and he gets A'a and B's, so I don't have anything major to complain about.  But there are certain things about school that are still very frustrating.  Writing is torture, matching tests are a joke, spelling is horrendous - did I spell that right?- and there are all kinds of little mistakes due to not reading the directions carefully enough.

So my question is, has anyone tried Learningrx?  I heard about it on a radio commercial, went to the website, and called the local place.  They say they are good, that they can help kids with ADHD and learning disabilities strengthen their weaknesses in brain functioning.  It's not tutoring like Sylvan, he doesn't need to improve in academic subject areas.  It's supposed to be more like brain exercise to help improve weak areas in thinking, like concentration and attention.

It is really expensive, but would be worth it if they can make a difference for him in his life.  I will ask them for references, but I know I will only get the positive from them.  Does anyone know anything about this company?  Has anyone tried it?

Yes, we saw a psychologist when we were diagnosed.  They did a lot of testing, but didn't offer this kind of training.  They were helpful with suggestions for behavior modification, though.

I called the counselor to see if he had any experience with the company.  He said no, but he has heard of them and would love to know what kind of experience we have if we try it.

thanks for the reply

Does your son or you go to counseling. If not that may be the place to start. They may be able to offer training such as this or if you already do attend counseling they may know of this company. I have not heard of them or what they propose they can do.I will let you know as I am also going to give them a try. I came here looking to see if anyone else had any personal experience with the LearningRX program. THey advertise on a local Christian radio station here. I made an appointment in the fall to have my daughter evaluated but cancelled it due to my hesitation from not knowing of anyone anywhere who can tell me personally whether the program was successful or not. I am finally desparate enough to give it a try. I will post again after her evaluation on Monday. I too.. would LOVE to hear from anyone who has had any personal experience with the program.
