Kid can’t sleep | ADHD Information

My son is on Focalin XR  in the am and a simple Focalin 5 mg dose in the evening. He is having a terrible time getting to sleep at night. We told our ped and we added the 5 mg dose in the evening so his rebound wouldn't be happening at bedtime. So far, there is very little improvement.

my 9 year old dd was on adderal for 2 weeks and we had the same problem.  we switched to short acting ritalin 2 x a day and it has improved.  i know that someone else recently posted that their child didn't sleep for a day and a half on adderal.  i'd speak to your pediatrician/doctor.  good luck!

both my sons have problems getting to sleep. i find especialy with my youngest that letting him have tv helps,

i let him watch what ever dvds he wants, but once its midnight. i choose what he watches. and i always put something on he dosent want to watch (long film) and tell him its that or nothing and take his remote

he is asleep b4 12.45 most nights

it not that easy with the older one thoughAngry

Fennel tea.  Or you might want to try meletonin(sp?).  hop over to the Alt med board and they have many threads about sleep.  meletonin is very good for sleep and all natural.  What did the doc say about the sleep issue?  He might change the med if you let him know she is not sleeping. My daughter has been on adderall xr for 1 week exactly . the doc also prescribed guaficin(tenex) to help her sleep at night.  well it's not working she isn't going to  sleep until around 2am..... i even tried giving her a hot bath(johnson bedtime chamoille)and warm milk and she's acts like she just woke up from a full nights sleep. any suggestionsI started giving my little night owl Melatonin back in October.  It's all natural, was recommended by her Neurologist, and is working very well.

Have you tried warm milk?  This is smiple but always works for my son who also takes adderall.

Good luck

If it is just happening since she started taking the medication, you should tell your doctor.

You could try a heavy blanket over her legs.  Some have said that it helps them to sleep better.
