We are in desperate need of a few good books! Our 10 yr old son is very smart but is miserable at school do to ADHD/Inattentive type.
He has been diagnosed, and has started meds, but he is a very negative, discouraged child with a strong fear of failure.
Would you please recommend your favorite books on "helping kids with ADD be successful and happy" (not books on diagnosing it, we have all those). Your experience is invaluable to us!!
Sincerely, Holly O
I have just finished a book by Tom Daly which can be ordered at ADHDSolution@aol.com I have- like you- read many books on diagnoses and this is the first practical book I have read yet, with great ideas that truly work at home - like I said I have just started the suggestions and ideas he offers in the book but so far so good - my son is 13years old and a wonderful child and all I want as his mom is his happeness and to live a full life like my other children and I believe this book is an answer to my prayers - Mr. Daly is honest and ADHD himself and raised a child who is also ADHD - log in to the web sight and read for yourself - but I truly believe this was the book I was looking for. Good luck and God bless lviator..........I am also a newbie to ADHD my child has been diagnosed with it and she is only 5 years old. Last year we had her checked through the school districta and they marked her at risk for the signs but let her fall between the cracks due to as they put it her intelligence. My daughter is smart too smart and i am looking for books to learn more about ADHD as well is how to keep her focused at home. It is soo frustrating I cannot get her to dress herself without doing it myself. I was told she is workable without medications for now in which I am grateful.
